Hey there! Good suggestions and just what I was looking for. I usually never get sick and I'm usually on a pretty tight diet but last week I travelled all week, boy it was exhausting (but fun). I started getting a littel throat tickle last week and then a cough, but you know how it is when yr with relatives, things just move really fast and there's all kinds of food that I would NEVER eat on a regular basis and stressful situatuations that I would never normally get into. Oh well, just wanted to say thanks. Cat

Hi Rose!

Try this recipe from "A Decadent Conspiracy". To make them gluten free, you can just use a gluten free flour mix like Bob's Red Mill. These are pretty flexible, so you can experiment with the spices and flours (all whole wheat, all spelt, some of each, etc...)

Namaste,

Thank you for sharing your experience.

I´m leaving to Arsha Vidya Gurukulam, Anaikatti, tomorrow (!) for a period of two months to study Vedanta and Yoga with Swamiji Dayananda.

It will be my first time in India, after 6 years of studying and teaching yoga in my hometown Oporto, Portugal and in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.

Feel free to drop a line about your experiences at www.dharmabindu.com, a site about dharma and yoga.

May all beings be happy.

Hari Om,
Gustavo

Hi Deanna!

Thanks for the comments! Yes, I love using coconut in lieu of butter - Manna Bread with coconut oil or butter and cinnamon is one of my favorite morning snacks:) I also sometimes make a yummy raw freezer fudge with cashew or almond butter, coconut butter, agave nectar, vanilla and raw cacao (or just plain ol' cocoa powder). You can throw some walnuts or chopped hazelnuts and coconut in there too for a little extra crunch. I just mix it all up and keep it in a little container in the freezer - cutting off a chunk when I want a healthy chocolate snack. Mmmm.

Oh how funny! I discovered Natto at Rainbow too! After reading all the descriptions of "regular" Natto I almost feel like I'm cheating - the barley ginger stuff is SO easy to love right off the bat! Try a dab of it on Shitake mushrooms (I steam the dried ones first, but fresh would probably be good too). I got that idea from the organic Japanese place over near 16th x Valencia (they had a sweeted miso paste - same idea). The Barley Natto is also darn good just spread on a good hearty whole grain/sprouted grain toast. Try the Artisan coconut butter over in the bulk bins by the nut butters at Rainbow too. It's pricey, (and addictive!) but you can use it as a creamer in tea or coffee (just a teaspoon or two - won't change the color, but is rich with a lovely faint coconuty flavor), or spread on toast like butter. Make sure you get the ivory-colored coconut BUTTER, not the pure white OIL.

hey lindsay - these look so delicious! I hope you don't mind but I've shared the recipe with friends on our facebook group - I've got a rippa cake recipe. Fully credited of course! only problem is we're in spring here in Australia so we'll have to wait a while to bake them... but they look gorgeous.
Come and join the group if you're interested! it's a little traditional and unwholefoods right now but we can change that...

hope your new direction in life is nourishing you and making you smile. looking forward to another great dinner at that south indian place next time i'm in town!

[...] I made a whole slew of muffins for my friend Tara’s baby shower last Sunday and I’m hooked! Mini-muffins are so gosh-darn cute. Two of these, the brownie bites and the banana-cinnamon muffins, are slightly adapted versions of erin mckenna’s (of babycakes fame) recipes which appeared a while back in food & wine. The others pictured are my special figgy tea muffins. I also tried my hand at some orange corn muffins (not pictured), adapted to be mini and gluten free from a recipe in the Real Food Daily cookbook. I’ll post my version below. The corn muffins are delicious alone, or smeared with carrot cashew spread, also in the RFD cookbook. [...]

Hello!

I would be super interested in taking you up on your offer for a free health consultation.

I am struggling a bit with a digestion system that works less than optimal causing a number of discomforts - uncomfortable bowel movements, sometimes diareah, skin inflamation, and stagnant metabolism.

Would LOVE your feedback during our call.

Thanks!
